COVID-19 Vaccine Now Available for Children Ages 5 through 11!

🎉The CDC recommends Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 through 11.

Here’s what you need to know about the vaccine for this age group:

  1. The vaccine is safe and 91% effective

  2. Children ages 5-11 receive a lower dose than the adult vaccine

  3. The vaccine is administered in 2 doses, 3 weeks apart

  4. The distribution roll-out will start in some places as early as today (check-in with your child’s doctor to see if they have any shots!), but will be more widely available next week

  5. Vaccination, along with other preventive measures, can protect children from COVID-19 and help us build our immunity as a neighborhood

Protect one another and get stronger together! Vaccination, along with other preventative measures, can protect children from COVID-19, a virus that can lead to hospitalizations, inflammatory syndromes, and even death. Over six million children have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of this pandemic and many continue to get infected. Many providers are confirming their rollout process so check your child’s doctor, county websites, or visit COVID19.CA.GOV for appointments and additional information.

CNC has been providing information about COVID-19 vaccines for all ages through grassroots outreach, by phone, on the radio, on TV, through town-halls, via digital campaigns, and more! Help us spread the news by sharing!
